How real estate agents can survive online in modern times, despite the rapid growth of the Internet...
These days, a simple real estate website is not enough to ensure your online marketing success. To put it bluntly: Traditional real estate websites are becoming invisible.
In the past, real estate agents could put up a 5-page website, and people would eventually find it (and perhaps even respond to it). That is no longer the case. To be "findable" online today, you need more than a real estate website — you need a web presence.
The Internet has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. Today, the size of the Web is measured in billions of individual documents, with millions of new documents coming online every year.
As a result, it's much harder to be found online today than it used to be. This will only increase in time, as more content is added to the Internet. So you have to work smarter and use multiple web-publishing channels to ensure your future "findability." That's what you'll learn from this guide.
Let's look at a hypothetical scenario. Let's say we are a real estate agent in San Diego. About ten years ago, only a dozen or so real estate companies in San Diego had websites. Websites were more expensive back then, and harder to produce.
On top of that, few real estate companies felt the need to go online ten years ago. There wasn't the "Internet rush" that we see in today's real estate industry.
So let's say we put a new website online, catering to San Diego real estate shoppers. If we were one of only 13 San Diego real estate websites, that would make it really easy for people to find us online. If a search engine showed ten results on Page 1, we would have a strong chance of being on that page. Less competition, right?
Now flash forward to the present.
It's 2007 now, and thousands of San Diego real estate agents have websites and blogs online. In fact, when I search the phrase "San Diego real estate agent" in Google (with quotes around the phrase), I get 25,300 results.
That means there are more than 25,000 individual documents online (and in the Google database) that mention the phrase "San Diego real estate agent."
That's some stiff competition! And it doesn't matter where you operate — this example translates to your market area as well. A website alone cannot compete with such a sheer volume of content. That's why you need a web presence.
Here's what it boils down to. In the very near future, all real estate research (and even many of the transactions themselves) will be conducted online. Whether or not you're part of that will depend on how you think about the Internet today, and well into the future.
For only $14.99, you can totally transform the way you think about real estate Internet marketing ... for the better. You can turn your website into a web presence that will produce better visibility, more leads, more business and more long-term success.
