Real Estate SEO - The Research Factor

Real estate search engine optimization (SEO) takes time, effort and patience. So as with any long-term endeavor, you need to do the proper research up front.

Could you imagine building a the foundation to a house only to realize you're over the property line? Think of the heartache that would result from all the wasted effort.

Real estate SEO is a lot like that. So before you start thinking about the technical side of SEO, do some research to figure out how to optimize your website in the first place.

Some key questions to ask:

SEO Question #1 - What's the goal of my real estate marketing program?

This is important because your SEO program is a natural extension of your overall marketing program. (Or at least it should be.)

SEO Question #2 - Who is my primary audience? What kind(s) of people do I want to find my website?

This is important, because in order to choose the right key search phrases, you need to know who is doing the searching.

SEO Question #3 - What key phrases should I optimize my website for?

This is important, because if you don't choose the right phrases up front, much of your SEO efforts will be wasted.
