City of Pittston Announces Mortgage Relief Program

PITTSTON – Mayor Michael Lombardo recently announced that the city’s Office of Community Development and Redevelopment has created the City of Pittston Mortgage Assistance Program.

This is a program to help low-to-middle income households who are having difficulty making mortgage payments due due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The mortgage relief program is an interesting program,” said Mayor Lombardo. “I take no credit for this program, it was 100% (the executive director of the Pittston City Office of Community Development & Redevelopment Authority) Joe Chacke’s idea and it was an interesting way to get there.”

“For some people who have struggled and had difficulty paying their mortgages during this time of COVID, there is relief under the mortgage relief program,” Lombardo said. “There’s a payment refund available to catch up on mortgages and that’s Joe’s brainchild.”
