Financial difficulties due to COVID? Lake County offers delinquent mortgage assistance

LAKE COUNTY, Florida. – Lake County is offering assistance to eligible residents who have delinquent mortgage payments, officials said Tuesday.

Lake County’s CV-1 Mortgage Relief Program will provide select households with up to $5,000 for delinquent mortgage payments, excluding stranded property taxes, incurred after March 13, 2020, according to a statement from hurry.

County officials said the funds are being paid directly to the mortgage company and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The assistance program is available to residents who meet the following conditions:

  • Head of household must be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien

  • The residence must be the primary residence of the household and be located in Lake County, Florida

  • The residence must have an exemption from the owner

  • Household must have experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19 (i.e. unemployed, underemployed, reduced hours of work or rate of pay)

  • Household income must be equal to or less than 120% of the median income of the region
