Lexington County offers rental and mortgage assistance to residents

Renters and landlords will be able to apply for up to six consecutive months of financial assistance for rent, mortgage and utilities.

LEXINGTON, SC — Lexington County residents who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic can now apply for financial assistance through the Lexington Countyit is LexCo cares program.

The program, according to Lexington administrators, was created for low-to-moderate income families in Lexington County to help offset financial hardship from job loss, lost work hours and the loss of income caused by the pandemic.

Renters and landlords will be able to apply for up to six consecutive months of financial assistance for rent, mortgage and utilities.

Eligible applicants must be residents of Lexington County and must have an annual income at or below 80% of the median income for the area.

Residents must also be able to prove that they are in arrears or unable to pay all or part of their rent, mortgage and utilities. Applicants must not have received assistance from any other source of funding.
