Town receives $ 700,000 in mortgage assistance for residents • Coral Springs Talk

Residents in financial difficulty can apply for mortgage assistance through the Town of Coral Springs.

As part of the Community Block Grant Program, the city received a federal funding allocation from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide mortgage assistance to homeowners.

To be eligible, residents must demonstrate that they have suffered loss of income, reduced work hours or unemployment, as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a city statement.

“In addition to the $ 2 million in CARES Act funding that the city has distributed for rental and utility assistance, I am very proud that we are also helping homeowners who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ”said Mayor Scott. Stream. “The coordination and allocation of funds by city staff truly demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that Coral Springs receives our fair share of federal funding, which directly benefits residents.”

Eligibility

Applicants who own a home in Coral Springs must have documentation of lost income, reduced work hours, or unemployment resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to the default on mortgage payments, or HOA payments . See other eligibility conditions.

If granted, assistance will be provided with past due mortgage payments, escrow or other charges from April 1, 2020 until today.

Financial assistance must be paid directly to the service provider / lender and is limited to a maximum of $ 10,000 per owner.

Print the application in color (double-sided) from the city’s website, www.coralsprings.org/mortgage, then complete the application in blue or black ink and provide copies of all required documents.

For residents who cannot print the application, copies can be picked up from Town Hall at 9500 W. Sample Road from September 29 to October 10, 2021, during business hours.

Once the application is complete, residents can submit their application in person at Town Hall on the following dates: Monday, October 11 – 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 12 – 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or Wednesday, October 13 – 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
